The Centralian Superbasin

The dark grey colour in the map, above, represents the area identified by Pangea as being suitable for a nuclear waste dump. The four most likely sites are indicated.

The system is tilted downwards to the east, a consequence of the late arrival of the Eastern States in the formation of Australia. The only place where the superbasin geology breaks the surface is in the Savory Basin area, partly within the Rudall River/Karlamilyi National Park.
